Christian Education
"The Board of Christian Education of the United Church of Christ, Congregational will nurture, support,
challenge, and be advocates for all persons with the responsibility for fostering discipleship and faith
through Christian education in our church community."
Christian Education is critical in fulfilling our church's mission. We involve our youth in the worship
service, instruct them on the teachings of the Bible, and help them to understand the contribution they
can make to the world as Christians. Our youth are Christians with integrity who serve others. They are unique
individuals, inclusive, compassionate, and are respected as enthusiastic people of faith in action. Our youth
participate in activities that develop and demonstrate potential while building long-term memories and
relationships. The following programs are offered to our youth:
- Sunday School for children 3 years old through Senior High. The lessons coordinate with the
scripture readings in worship to further facilitate family discussions. Children attending Sunday School
join the congregation for the start of worship each week and stay through the Children's Sermon. At
that time, they go to their Sunday School rooms and receive separate instruction until the worship service concludes.
- Children' s Sermon for all children. This is a story telling segment conducted within each
worship service which helps the children better understand the focus of the service. After the Children's
sermon all Sunday School attendees are dismissed to their classrooms for further instruction.
- Nursery Care for two year olds and younger, including newborns. The nursery is well staffed
and filled with age-appropriate toys and equipment.
