MEET & GREET THE CANDIDATE FOR ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF YOUTH AND MISSION

MEET THE CANDIDATE FOR ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF YOUTH AND MISSION: MEGHAN MALONE!

Meet our Candidate for the Associate Pastor for Youth and Mission, Meghan Malone! I am very excited for you to meet and work with Meghan! From the minute we saw her resume I knew she would be a good fit, and I was so excited to meet this person! When it all shook out she had the best educational background for this specific, and very important position. She asked a question that really stirred my soul during one of the many interviews—she wanted to know how we approach mission. She shared that when white countries supply impoverished countries with mosquito nets, in reality it harms those local economies by undercutting entrepreneurs who sell these nets for a living in that area. What an educated and holistic look into our interconnected and very complex world!

On the UCC Civil Right Pilgrimage I attended in June, I did a bit of detective work, just asking if any of the pastors had heard of Meghan. I heard only glowing reports from anyone who knew her. And because they had no idea WHY I was asking about her they gave me unvarnished answers. I am thrilled we are giving this treasure of Meghan to current and future young people of our church as well as our mission partners. I can’t wait to see what our church family does alongside Meghan!

Meghan’s Candidate Weekend will include a “Meet the Candidate” event on Saturday, September 17th, from 4-6 PM in Fellowship Hall. We’ll have pizza and snacks on hand for this event. Then she will preach at all three services on Sunday, September 18th and we will vote by paper ballot. If we have a majority vote, Meghan will then start the very next day, Monday, September 19th to start building up our youth and mission.

…And our service now begins. -Julie Gilliland
